Robert has always felt at home in the outdoors, drawn to nature in a way that feels instinctive. He realized that the further he removed his feet from the earth, the further he distanced himself from his soul.
For seven years, he journeyed annually to the Seven Devils area, living off the land for a week—sustaining himself on plants, berries, and fish.
When he met Christine, they discovered a shared passion for nature, spending countless weekends hiking in the wilderness. One curiosity they both longed to explore further was mushrooms. In 2014, after stumbling upon an enormous unidentified mushroom, they joined SIMA to deepen their knowledge of mushroom identification.
