SIMC'S FALL FORAY AND IDENTIFICATION WORKSHOP

Member registration:  starts Aug. 28 and ends Sept. 15th or earlier if we are full.

It is fall and the time of year that you can find an abundance of different mushrooms as well as more edibles.   McCall has had quite a bit of moisture lately and many different mushrooms are fruiting now.  Fall forays average up to 150 different type of mushrooms vs. 100 in the spring.  Come join the fun and meet fellow mushroomers!

Registration Options
1. Full foray event (field trips & programs) with meals and lodging (Sept 29 - Oct. 1)
2. Two day event with meals, no lodging
3. Two day event only, ( no meals, no lodging)
4. One day event (Friday afternoon or Saturday) 

Lodging Details

Location: Quaker Hill Camp & Conference Center   1440 Warren Wagon Rd, McCall Idaho, 83638       Website


  • Dorm style rooms, each room includes 4 bunk beds (1 is a double bed), shower, private bathroom. 

  • Couples and families are assigned a room, individuals will be assigned a room sharing with up to 3 other people.

  • ***LODGING DOES NOT INCLUDE LINENS – Bring your own bedding and towels**

RV Details:

  • Cost is the same as staying in the lodge

  • Full Hookup spots are limited to 5 on the upper parking lot

  • Self Contained spots are not limited, and are located in the lower parking lot

IMPORTANT:  No alcohol and No pets are allowed on premises per facility rule

Foray Preparation

Provided

  • Paper collection bags and Identification forms

  • Some mushroom identification books may be available to use

Please Bring:

  • Layered clothing, water, sturdy shoes or hiking boots/shoes

  • A basket or mesh bag to collect mushroom specimens

  • Small Knife, can be a kitchen knife or foldable knife, whistle, compass

  • If you have a mushroom book, bring it to help with identification after the field trip is over.

1. North American Mushrooms: A Field Guide To Edible And Inedible Fungi by Orson K. Miller& Hope Miller      Amazon link 

2. Mushrooms Demystified, by David Arora (more technical and has more detail to identify mushrooms)
